TAP THE MASSES AND 88NINE RADIO MILWAUKEE PRESENTS: SEA WOLF [Dangerbird Records] With Special Guest SAVOIR ADORE

Poster

BUY TIX

Sea Wolf will be touring in support of their 2012 release Old World Romance and making a stop in Milwaukee in between shows at Sasquatch Music Festival and Bonnaroo.
Alex Brown Church covers a lot of geography in his music. As Sea Wolf, his songs weave vivid imagery and lush orchestration into narratives illuminating the emotional diaspora of life, love, loss and rebirth. Old World Romance finds singer/songwriter Alex Brown Church dealing with major life changes, including the death of a close relative. Geography, relationships and the weight of life – of growing up and facing who you are and where you came from – wind their ways in and out of Church’s sweeping, swooning pop tunes.

STEPDAD w/ WORRIER, BRING YOUR RAY GUN

Step3_small

$7 advance / $9 day of show BUY TIX

While it's not uncommon for bands from small town to move to big cities to chase stardom, electropop outfit Stepdad took a much less traveled route to success. When lead singer ultramark (Mark Tafel) and fellow college dropout and producer Ryan McCarthy formed the project, they re-located from Chicago to Grand Rapids. It was in this small market that they released a debut EP, 'Ordinaire,' independently on Bandcamp that wielded very big results - after expanding to a full band, Stepdad embarked on tours with Passion Pit and Fitz and the Tantrums. Soon, they found themselves traveling to New York City to record their debut LP with producer Chris Zane, who has produced albums for Passion Pit, Mumford & Sons, The Walkmen, and Les Savy Fav. That album, 'Wildlife Pop,' came out last summer to overwhelmingly positive reviews, while their live show did no less to draw people in; Katherine Flynn of Consequence of Sound said of their live show, "No venue is too small for lead singer Mark Tafel's costumes, including faux fur capes and shiny silver pants and magnetic rock star swagger. He's like a bearded, balding alt-rock antihero, revealing a pale chest and sizable beer gut when he takes off his shirt." Sounds like something you'll want to witness for yourself.

Leading in for Stepdad will be Milwaukee's own Worrier. Worrier skillfully weaves post-punk, progressive, and pop sensibilities together to create impressive and catchy tunes. Their sound has not only captivated Milwaukee, but also has a substantial following in Europe and Japan, which led to successful tours of both areas in support of their 2010 album, 'Source Error Spells.'

Kicking off the show will be Bring Your Ray Gun - a band from Chicago who is no stranger to Milwaukee and leaves a lasting impression every time they come. Known for their energetic live show, they've held their own on bills with the likes of other stage-shredders like Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt! and Walk the Moon.

This is an energetic bill from front to back that will be sure to cure anyone's Monday blues!

SINKANE with special guest PAINTED CAVES, plus DJ's MARCUS DOUCETTE & BUMBAC JOE

Presented by Tap the Masses
Sinkanesmall

$10 BUY TIX

Sinkane is the project of the Sudanese-born musician Ahmed Gallab. Gallab cut his own teeth as a youngster in the punk DIY landscape of middle America, and then found himself touring far and wide as a member of Yeasayer, Caribou, Eleanor Friedberger, Born Ruffians, and Of Montreal. He has emerged from it all as Sinkane, a project that identifies a renaissance within the space and spirit of the outposts of contemporary music. With an aesthetic range seamlessly shifting from soul to rock, and from jazz to pop, Sinkane's vibe is timeless and the sound is now.

THE FATTY ACIDS and *SECRET SPECIAL GUEST* w/ HOSPITAL SHIPS (Lawrence, KS), MILO, and DJing by WAX ADDICTS

21+
Fatty_acids_small

$6

Secrets, secrets are no fun... unless they involve The Fatty Acids. The Milwaukee scramble-pop group bring along some special friends who have a few tricks up their sleeve on Saturday, June 15th. Details will be revealed in the coming weeks, so be sure to join the Facebook event for updates: https://www.facebook.com/events/287562571380195/

The already announced guests are special enough in themselves for the meager $6 cover. Lawrence, Kansas' Hospital Ships caught national attention from publications like Pitchfork and Sterogum with their 2011 debut 'Lonely Twin,' making their 6/18 follow-up highly-anticipated. Wisconsin rapsmith Milo has been nominated for Radio Milwaukee awards thanks to his unique alternative rap style. Wax Addicts will keep the party going with spinning between sets.
